The regular meetings of the Solana Beach City Council are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Solana Beach City Council Chambers located at 635 South Highway 101, Solana Beach, California, 92075.

Solana Beach is a General Law City operated by a Council/Manager form of government. The City Council serves as a legislative body and consists of five Council members, one of whom is chosen to act as Mayor for a one-year term on a rotating basis.  Council members are leaders and policy makers elected as representatives to concentrate on policy issues that are responsive to the needs of the citizens.

City Council meetings, which are held the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, are regularly broadcast live on the internet at the City's website as well as your cable network (Cox Channel 19 and Time Warner Channel 24). The meetings are archived on the City's website the next day and a television re-broadcast of the meeting is typically the following Thursday and Monday at 6:00 p.m.  The City Council makes a conscientious effort to keep the citizens informed of City activities, policies, and events.  Other selected workshops and community meetings pertaining to: City Budget, Redevelopment, View Vegetation,  Coastal Rail Trail, Cliff Street & Rosa Street Bridges when possible.
