Sewer Billing
The City of Solana Beach normally places the annual sewer charges on the property tax rolls with the County of San Diego (County) and the County collects the charges along with the property taxes and transmits the funds to the City. The City was unable to accomplish this for fiscal year 2006/07 because in July 2006 the California Supreme Court issued a ruling making it necessary to issue a Majority Protest Notice in order to finalize such increases. This process requires a 45 day noticing period prior to holding a public hearing. Because there was a delay with the Supreme Court ruling, the 45 day noticing requirement and the public hearing, the City was unable to get the new rate information to the County so it could be included on everyones 2006/2007 property tax bill.

The attached Questions and Answers sheet provides additional information about the FY 2006/07 sewer billing. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact the City of Solana Beach Finance Department at (858) 720-2460.
