

The Fire Department is staffed with a Chief, Deputy Chief, an Administrative Assistant, 6 Fire Captains, 6 Engineers, 4 Firefighter Paramedics and 2 Firefighters. In addition, the fire station is home to 6 Paramedics operating an ambulance owned by Rural Metro.
Emergency response is handled according to the nature of the emergency with a combination of vehicles and equipment housed at the Solana Beach station and from surrounding agencies through mutual aid and automatic aid agreements. For example, a call for a structure fire would bring an engine, truck and paramedic unit from Solana Beach as well engines from Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Encinitas and San Diego. An increase to a second or third alarm would bring vehicles from as far as Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos and Escondido.
TIP, Trauma Intervention Programs of San Diego County, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer organization, contracted with the City of Solana Beach, of specially trained citizen volunteers who provide immediate emotional and practical support to victims and their families in the first few hours following a tragedy.
