Art and recreation are two of the major elements that make the small City of Solana Beach a beautiful, vital, and fun place to live. Solana Beach is home to many active artists who, along with the Public Arts Advisory Commission, advise the City on ways to enhance the environment and enjoyment of public places, as well as contribute to the quality, uniqueness and identity of Solana Beach.
The City offers life-enriching recreational programs and activities for residents of all ages, from preschoolers to older adults. Recreation is a priority in Solana Beach with golf, tennis, City parks, beaches, the Boys & Girls Club, two community centers, and many organized programs available for the public. The two community centers in Solana Beach are: La Colonia Community Center, 715 Valley Avenue and Fletcher Cove Community Center, 133 Pacific Avenue. A variety of educational, life enrichment, and recreational programs are held at the centers and are administered through the Community Services Department. For more information on these programs or the community centers please call (858) 793-2564.
The Community Services Department also provides an after school enrichment program and summer camps for children, as well as a wide variety of adult classes through the San Dieguito Adult Education Program. Annual holiday and special events such as the Spring Egg Hunt, Fiesta del Sol, and the Festival Of Lights, contribute to the atmosphere and community spirit of the City. All these exciting extracurricular activities, programs, and events are part of the magnetism and appeal of beautiful Solana Beach.
